Chi Acupuncture

Dr. Liu insists on treating one person at a time, the length of each session depends on a person’s medical needs and on the healing techniques required. These techniques include the following:

Chi Acupuncture – Chi is the life force that animates every living organism. In the human body, it regulates growth, movement, blood flow, hormonal activity, and metabolism. It oversees the assimilation and elimination of nutrients, controls heartbeat and breath, and generally powers all our basic physiological and mental functions. Fresh supplies of Chi are manufactured in the body every day. It is taken in from the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the impressions we receive with our five senses. When Chi flows freely throughout our bodies, our organs are properly nourished and glowing good health results.  If this flow is impeded or stagnant, disease follows.

Where is the Chi located? Basically speaking, Chi circulates in 24-hour cycles throughout the body in a network of twenty-eight channels or “meridians” that run from the top of the head to the soles of the feet. These channels are located simultaneously inside the body and in the force field that surrounds it, forming an integrated grid work of invisible energies that has been mapped by scientists and photographed by electro-magnetic cameras. Its different branches are named for the associated organs -- the heart meridian, the liver meridian, the lung and kidney meridians.

Every meridian in the body is lined with a series of “acupoints.” It is at these sensitive, dot-sized locations that the life force is most heavily concentrated, and where it can be most easily manipulated. When applying treatment, an acupuncturist thus inserts needles into the appropriate points. Once in place, the needles literally “download” Chi into the energy paths. The process is similar to the way a tuner receives radio waves, the metal needles acting as antennae to attract and channel discrete frequencies. It is like reprogramming one’s own computer -- the mind-body unit -- by routing energy from the environment into specific organs.

Once inserted, moreover, the needles stimulate the energy in the acupoints - or calm it, strengthen it, redirect it, disperse it, whatever the doctor feels is necessary to restore a patient’s energetic stability. Once this flow is adjusted nature then takes over and does what it does best, returning the body, mind, and spirit to a state of wellness. As any Chinese physician will tell you, all TCM really does is help the body help itself get well. Unlike Western medicine that assumes our body is simply the sum of its material parts, Asian healers maintain that fleshes and bones are only the observable portion of a far larger web of unseen energies. Unless a doctor has the key to unlock the doors to these non-material parts, permanent healing and real health remain forever elusive. All health and all sickness, TCM insist, originate in this realm of subtle energy

Dr. Liu was trained to analyze patients by means of secret diagnostic procedures handed down to him by his Taoist teachers. Using these remarkable techniques, he applies needles where they are really needed, not where the medical textbooks say they should go. In the process, he also directs his own Chi energy into the needles and thus directly into the patient. Dr. Liu re-vitalizes patients, tailor making each treatment session to suit their specific physical and energetic needs.
